After completion of the complex permitting process, Winspear Construction began the Design phase of this project which included the re-engineering of an existing large-scale retaining wall, the design of a new concrete step-down wall with custom fencing, a grading and excavation plan for water mitigation, and hardscape and landscape re-design. Winspear Construction demolished an existing 8-foot tall timber retaining wall to be replaced with an Engineered Cast-In-Place Structural Concrete retaining wall using both Symons Concrete Forming System and custom forms. This wall, when completed, was 8 feet tall, 25 feet long, and 8 inches thick. All existing concrete sidewalks and steps were demolished and replaced with new sidewalks, curb and gutter, wraparound stairs, and a flagstone path, complete with drainage to ensure sustainability. Over 100 cubic yards of fill dirt were imported to properly grade the surface area for appropriate water drainage. In addition, Winspear Construction brought in over 100 cubic yards of fill and topsoil to bring the front elevation level. We also installed an 80-foot step-down concrete pony wall with a custom-designed fence that is internally wired for lighting.
