USCG Rebuild ATON Los Angeles & Long Beach Harbor
Winspear Construction is the General Contractor for the work to install, replace, or remove aid-to-navigation (ATON) structures in Southern California. Work included the removal of an ATON steel pile at the Isthmus Cove off the shore of Catalina Island. This removed pile was to be replaced with a new 30’ FRP pile, which required drilling and epoxy for installation. This ATON was the most demanding and technical ATON for the project. The other 10 ATONs required different needs. Some ATON locations required new foundations, new steel piles, clean and prep steel pile for epoxy coating, new ladder sections, and new 5×5 baskets.
